The Lore

Our journey is a tribute to the skilled artisans and craftspeople who have preserved their traditions and techniques across generations. Nokshi is deeply rooted in the personal story of its founder and Designer, Nafi Haque Ahmed, whose firsthand experience revealed the cultural and artistic erosion caused by mass production and the growing disconnect from authentic craftsmanship.

The designer being an immigrant, Nokshi is also a bridge between past and present—a way of staying connected to the culture, heritage, and stories that shaped us while building a life in a new world. It is an exploration of identity, belonging, and the desire to carry one's roots forward rather than leave them behind. Through every piece we create, we honor where we come from while expressing who we are today.

For centuries, Bangali textiles were celebrated among the finest in the world, embodying a rich legacy of artistry, innovation, and cultural expression. Yet external influences and industrialization have steadily diminished the value placed on these traditions. Nokshi is our effort to reclaim and elevate that legacy—to restore Bengali craftsmanship to the recognition it rightfully deserves.

Our commitment to sustainability ensures that every piece is more than a product; it is a story woven with purpose. We oversee every aspect, from mill to hanger. Each creation supports the artisans, communities, and environments that make this work possible, preserving heritage while building a more responsible future.
